International Literacy Day celebrated on 8 September

 On 8 September  the world celebrates international literacy day  every year. 

8th September was declared. International literacy day by UNESCO on October 1966. 

It was celebrated for the first time in 1967. 

Literacy means the ability of read and write. 

The aim of the day is to highlight the important of literacy for individual. 

This day is an occasion to give hope to people who are illiterate. 

This day makes people aware to the importance of education.

This day is celebrated with a different themes every year. 

Only a literate country can achieve the economic growth and social development.
